Course unions are clubs organised to represent students in a particular program, department or faculty. VIU's course unions are some of the oldest clubs and date back more than 15 years. Course unions range in size from 30 to 100+ of members and engage in academic, social and professional development work. Course unions enable members to connect their classroom learning to extra-curricular learning and networking.
Our club is comprised of VIU students from all educational backgrounds that that have a collective interest in all branches of anthropology. We act as a direct link to many anthropology related events through positive association with each other, staff, faculty and professionals in the field. We organize social events such as movie nights, pot-lucks, discussion forums, fundraisers, and field trips. We also promote educational events such as lectures, study groups and the anthropology forum.
Help make the world a better place by helping us raise funds for charity. Every year, the club decides on a charity (some local, some international) that they would like to raise funds for. Last year the club raised money to buy textbooks for underprivileged children in Tanzania.
Overall, joining the ASC is a great way to build a strong social network and gain easy access to information pertaining to anthropology related events at VIU.

Club Education, commonly known as “Club Ed,” is a student-run organization that represents the active students who are enrolled in the Education program’s various sections. The main purpose of Club Ed is to organize, plan and run professional development as well as social activities and events. By keeping students informed and involved, we intend to build community among all Education program sections.

With office hours throughout the week, there are opportunities for students to seek help and bring in their suggestions for anything from assistance in creating lesson plans to ideas for activities/support they would like to receive from Club Ed.
